Idioms are an important part of the English language and whilst they are not really appropriate for IELTS writing, you might find that they are useful for your speaking test. As such, today I am going to give you a collection of 150 idioms for IELTS that you can download for free.

Idioms for IELTS – Are They Helpful?

I have talked before about the value of idioms for IELTS students. You can read the full discussion here, but my summary is this:

Idioms are common in everyday English but they are easily misused and they tend to lower the level of formality, so they are not always useful for IELTS. However, knowing them can add some value to your studies. You might find you can use them in the speaking test and they should help with your general English abilities.

As you can see, I take a particular word or theme and then find various idioms about it. This is because that is the best way to learn! Hopefully you can use these to study some new phrases that you can incorporate into your daily English practice.
