Lesson 9 – Register

What the heck is register?! That’s what most people think. Basically, it means the degree to which your essay is formal. As you should know, an IELTS essay should be written in a formal style. That means: no slang, fewer contractions, and so on. In this lesson, I mostly cover participle clauses and passive voice. Why? Because these are common features of register!

This is the penultimate lesson of our free IELTS writing course!
